The Band

WYVERN was formed in November 2003 by Allegiance band members Hameed Sabry and Marwan Shaaban as an idea for a new heavy metal project with the aim to cover favorite metal songs.

Hameed and Marwan agreed to work with long time friends Seif El-Din Moussa and Sherif Alaa former members of the band Wheels of Fire. The four players met in the studio to discuss the new project formation, direction of music and future goals. The name WYVERN was decided a few days later after a series of brain storming sessions.

The first live show for WYVERN was in January 2004 and the crowd feedback was amazing. Throughout the past four years WYVERN have been headlining almost all of the rock concerts in Cairo since 2004 until present time.

The band started writing songs in mid 2004 and the first song was entitled Sex for Sale. The song was aired on Cairo FM for 3 months after an interview with the band. The band kept on writing more songs where they focused on the negativities of the society and attacking immoralities.

In a bold and innovative move, WYVERN decided to organize a concert at El Sawy culture wheel to be the first heavy metal band to take that step since 1997. The show is considered to be a step for taking the metal scene in Egypt one step forward. The show was a blast and had more than 1,500 wyvern fans.

WYVERN was the first heavy metal band to play in the SOS Music Festival in November 2006 in-front of 15,000 people. This concert gave WYVERN more popularity and the band became more than an underground band.

In 2007 WYVERN supported Pain of Salvation in Cairo as part of the SCARSICK world tour.

In late 2007 the band hired Omar Brazily-front man of Invaders-to replace Adham Roushdy who suffered problems with his vocal chords. Omar is known for his high pitched voice and energetic vibe on stage.

Currently the band is working on recording their first album however no release date has been decided yet.
